It is noteworthy that the Brazilian Embassy in Belmopan is one of the most recent of the Brazilian diplomatic network around the world. As the first resident Ambassador of Brazil, I arrived here in April 2006, to set up this Diplomatic Mission to Belize. Up to now, with a small staff, this Embassy has been striving not only to assist Brazilians, especially those living here, but also to help and strengthen the traditional bonds of friendship and co-operation that have always been the hallmark of the Brazilian-Belizean relations. In the last year, there was an exchange of the first missions of technical cooperation between the two countries, in the fields of Health and Agriculture. In an important gesture of friendship, Brazil provided humanitarian aid to thousand of Belizeans affected by Hurricane Dean, in September last year. |
